What: Paddle in the Deception Pass tidal currents, working with back eddies, practice crossing eddy lines, ferrying across fast moving water and playing with some boils and whirlpools.
There will be basic instructions given on the maneuvers mentioned above depending on the group.
Who: Intermediate to advanced paddlers; you should have some experience in moderately fast-moving water and a good understanding of skills involved, like edging and bracing. Expect to capsize so you must have solid wet exit and self-rescue skills and know how to support a rescuer effectively in an assisted rescue.
Please contact me if you are unsure if this trip is right for you. We will soon offer an intro into currents class.

Does your boat need a little love before the start of a new season? Do you just want to add a bit more bling? Whatever your needs, here is a chance to modify or repair your boat with the guidance of expert club members. Typical work includes: installing a keel strip, adding heel pads, installing/replacing perimeter lines and deck lines, adding reflective markings to boat/paddle, repairing small dings and scratches or installing a compass.
Don‘t forget to bring saw horses and, if you have them, the tools and supplies for the projects you would like to work on. If you are unsure what is required reach out to Frank S. for help.
